HISTORY OF JSES

Jasin Secondary English School (JSES) was established in 1960, initially with two classes using the Jasin English School (JES) facilities. In 1961, Remove and Malay Medium classes were added. In 1962, the school occupied its own premises next to JES.

Mr Gurdit Singh was the first Principal assisted by six teachers namely Mrs J M Ross; Mr Kong Teng Kok; Mr Wong Thean Keat; Mr Nadarajan; Mr Alwi Hj Ahmad and Mr James Dorairaj. Mr Gurdit Singh Gill headed the school until 1961. Mrs J M Ross replaced him as the second Principal.

In 1979, the PTA Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Aziz Tapa, mooted the change of the school to Sekolah Menengah Datuk Bendahara (SMDB), dedicated to the exemplary characters of Bendahara of Melaka Sultanate - Seri Wak Raja, Tun Perak and Tun Mutahir. The Bendaharas played the pivotal role in the adminitration of the Sultanate and whose characters could be emulated and entrusted into the students of the school.

Todate the school had produced many successful Alumni in the private and public sectors.

Alumni JSES, The idea of establishing rapport amongst past students came from Allahyarham Puan Noor Aini Md Zin (64) and Jaafar Jani. Many Adhoc meetings and functions were held until 2014, when the first organized Alumni Reunion was held in Melaka.

It has become an annual gathering since then. For 2016, Class of '66 is the lead organizer coinciding with the Golden Jublee and Alumni aged 66 years old.

Although the school's name had been changed, it is only right for Alumni of SMDB be considered as Affiliate Alumni of JSES.
